As my readers know, I’m an avid supporter of dog rescue, and I weave a rescue pup into every book I write to show what it’s like to foster or adopt. Today I’m launching the Mavericks Canine Casting Call Photo Contest — which supports dog rescues while giving your pup the chance to be a future character model for my book series!
We have two rescue pups. Kimber was adopted in November 2020 from the Kent County Animal Shelter. She’d been found as a stray, and she was like a raccoon on drugs when we brought her home. Ranger is our foster fail. He was our third foster. He was an owner surrender, and a group of volunteers helped transport him from Tennessee to Toledo, where we picked him up. I knew immediately I was keeping him! We officially adopted him in October 2023.
I wanted to do a fundraiser to support a rescue, but I didn’t want to hold the funds. I also wanted to give readers the option to support their local rescue or a breed-specific rescue that mattered to them.
While a donation isn’t required, I’m asking you to give what you can — whether it’s $5 or you simply add some dog treats to your cart to drop at the local shelter. I can’t wait to meet your dogs and to choose a few to join my Lone Star Mavericks MC universe.
